The RAC (Real Application Clusters) Implementation Boot Camp will equip partner implementation personnel with the knowledge and experience to implement Real Application Clusters on the Oracle database. The course will provide an introduction to the features and functionality of RAC and lead students through a hands-on workshop for installing, configuring and running RAC with Oracle Database 11g Release 1.
The course will cover:
- Overview of Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RAC
- Before You Start: Plan your Installation
- Preparing Your Cluster: Decisions and Details
- Installing Oracle Clusterware 11g
- Installing Automatic Storage Management
- Installing the Oracle Database software
- Creating a Cluster database
- Performing Postinstallation Tasks
- Converting an Oracle Database to an Oracle RAC Database (Optional)
Attendees will learn to the concepts behind RAC, how to prepare and install a RAC database, as well as how to configure the various components of the Oracle clusterware stack. ttendees will also get hands-on experience performing these tasks. Students should come to class already familiar with Oracle database operations, use and administration. At the conclusion of the course, attendees should be able to understand and successfully implement and configure a Real Application Clusters database.
The audience for this course is implementation consultants, who require an understanding of RAC implementation and configuration.
Required Prerequisites –Database Implementation Champion or Specialist.
This course will cover the following topics:
- Overview of Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RAC – Covers the concepts and architecture of Real Application Clusters and the Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
- Before You Start: Plan your Installation – Covers the steps required to properly plan the installation of Real Application Clusters and Oracle Clusterware.
- Preparing Your Cluster: Decisions and Details – Covers preparation of a cluster prior to installing Oracle Clusterware and RAC.
- Installing Oracle Clusterware 11g – Covers installation of Oracle Clusterware.
- Installing Automatic Storage Management – Covers installation of ASM software.
- Installing the Oracle Database software – Covers installation of Oracle Database software.
- Creating a Cluster Database – Covers creation of Oracle RAC database.Performing Postinstallation Tasks – Covers tasks following the installation steps listed above.
- Converting an Oracle Database to an Oracle RAC Database (Optional) – If time permits, this module will cover the steps required to convert an existing single instance Oracle database to a RAC database.
This 3-day / 6 session boot camp will give attendees an understanding of data warehousing concepts and Oracle features used to implement data warehouses.
